
Bhubaneswar: Animesh Pradhan, who secured the coveted All India Rank 2 (AIR 2) in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2023, has been allotted the Odisha cadre. A native of Talcher, Animesh’s journey from a small town to one of the nation’s top bureaucrats is a testament to his perseverance and dedication.
Animesh completed his Class 12 education at D.A.V. Public School, M.C.L. Kalinga Area, before pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, graduating in 2021. Following his engineering degree, he worked at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), but his passion for public service led him to prepare for and excel in the UPSC examination.
In a poignant twist, Animesh shared that his parents, who inspired him to pursue a career in the civil services, are no longer alive to witness his remarkable achievement. Reflecting on his success, he expressed gratitude for their guidance, saying their dreams fueled his determination to succeed.
Animesh views his allocation to the Odisha cadre as a significant opportunity to serve his home state during what he described as an “exciting phase” for Odisha. In a post-results interview, he emphasized his commitment to ensuring that government schemes effectively reach their intended beneficiaries, empowering people in a meaningful way.
“Nothing is impossible if one has the right grit and determination,” said Animesh, whose journey serves as an inspiration to aspirants across the country. His story underscores the transformative power of hard work, resilience, and a vision for positive change.
