Odisha Accelerates Industrial Growth with ₹28,084 Crore Project Launch in Ganjam

Bhubaneswar, June 5: In a major push towards economic transformation and regional development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation for 12 new industrial and infrastructure projects worth ₹28,084 crore in Ganjam district. The announcement, made on World Environment Day, underscores the state’s focus on green and inclusive growth while creating over 15,455 job opportunities.

The projects, spread across Gopalpur, Chatrapur, Buguda, and Barapalli, reflect a diverse investment portfolio spanning green energy, logistics, manufacturing, chemicals, and tourism. Speaking at the event, CM Majhi said these initiatives are a clear signal of Odisha’s intent to combine environmental responsibility with industrial advancement. He reaffirmed the state’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat,” highlighting the role of a double-engine government in fast-tracking economic progress.

The Chief Minister also noted that within just five months of the “Utkarsh Odisha–Make in Odisha” investors’ summit, projects worth ₹1.5 lakh crore have been grounded, generating 90,000 new jobs. Gopalpur Port, he added, is steadily emerging as a major industrial gateway that will drive the economic transformation of the region.

Among the key projects, Ocior Energy Private Limited has commenced a ₹7,200-crore green hydrogen and ammonia plant at the Tata Steel SEZ in Gopalpur, expected to employ 2,300 people. Another green energy player, HHP Five Private Limited, is investing ₹4,000 crore in a similar unit, creating 1,595 jobs. Petronet LNG Limited has initiated work on its ₹6,500-crore LNG terminal to enhance energy infrastructure and offer 1,000 job opportunities.

Manufacturing and clean energy sectors also saw significant investments. Saatvik Solar Industries Private Limited is setting up a ₹3,500-crore solar manufacturing facility that will generate 3,225 jobs, while World Green Energy Private Limited is investing ₹2,500 crore to create 2,500 employment opportunities.

The chemical sector received a boost with UPL Limited’s ₹4,000-crore specialty chemicals unit, which will employ 4,100 people. In logistics, Geo Impex and Logistics Private Limited is establishing a ₹207-crore multi-modal logistics park in Chatrapur, adding 350 jobs to the region. The agro-processing sector is being supported through Tarangini Distilleries’ ₹149-crore bio-ethanol plant in Buguda, expected to create 205 jobs.

Smaller-scale but meaningful projects were also launched, such as Odisha Monolithic’s refractory unit, Crochet Industries’ eco-resort in Gopalpur, and new e-waste and medical devices units by JSR Greenex and Linox Ortho Surgical Private Limited in Barapalli.

To complement industrial expansion, the state government also initiated two strategic infrastructure projects — Tata Steel’s ₹200-crore Industrial Park and IDCO’s ₹229-crore utility corridor and estate development.

Tata Steel SEZ Limited’s MD Manikanta Naik praised the state’s pro-investment stance, stating that the government’s policies have helped Gopalpur evolve into a strong industrial node.
