Nitin Gadkari Initiates Rs 2,217 Crore Investment in Uttarakhand’s Infrastructure: Unveils 8 National Highway Projects

Tanakpur, Uttarakhand: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, marked a significant milestone today by laying the foundation stones for eight National Highway projects in Tanakpur, Uttarakhand. The total investment for these projects amounts to Rs 2,217 crore. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami, Union Minister of State Ajay Bhatt, MPs, MLAs, and other officials.

The widening of the Kathgodam to Nainital road, equipped with a 2-lane paved shoulder, aims to enhance connectivity to the Nainital – Manaskhand temples. The 4-lane expansion of the Kashipur to Ramnagar road is set to simplify the journey for tourists heading to the Jim Corbett National Park and Manaskhand temples. Additionally, the 2-lane widening of the Kangarchina to Almora road not only increases accessibility to Bageshwar but also saves travel time for tourists. The rehabilitation and widening of the 2-lane Kanda Marg from Udiyari Band on National Highway 309A will ease access to Bagnath and Baijnath temples in Bageshwar, making the journey from Bageshwar to Pithoragarh safer, better, and more time-efficient.

Speaking at the event, Minister Gadkari highlighted the comprehensive infrastructure development plan for Uttarakhand. Beyond roads and highways, safety measures, including the construction of walls on the National Highway 87 extension, are in progress. The repair work of two bridges on Saryu and Gomdi rivers in Bageshwar district, costing Rs 5 crore, is also underway. These initiatives not only benefit tourists but also streamline local commuting, bolster the regional economy, and prioritize environmental sustainability, ensuring a holistic approach to development.
