National Youth Parliament Festival 2024: Celebrating Young Voices for Nation’s Transformation

New Delhi:   The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is set to host the grand finale of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF), 2024 on March 5th and 6th, showcasing the vibrant and articulate voices of young participants from across the nation. The Central Hall of the Parliament will witness the culmination of a month-long festival that has seen enthusiastic participation from youth at the district, state, and national levels.

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Young Voices: Engage and Empower for Nation’s Transformation,’ reflecting the government’s commitment to harnessing the potential of the youth for the betterment of the nation.

The NYPF, 2024, kicked off on February 9th, spanning over a month and covering 785 districts across the country. The event comprised three levels, starting with the District Youth Parliament from February 9th to 14th, followed by the State Youth Parliament from February 19th to 24th. The 87 state-level winners emerging from these events will now converge in New Delhi for the grand finale.

The finalists, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners, will engage in dynamic discussions on topics of national importance during the National Youth Parliament. Twenty-nine participants who secured the 1st position in their respective State Youth Parliaments will take the stage as speakers, while the remaining 58 will participate as an attentive audience.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and National Service Scheme (NSS), has been actively organizing Youth Parliament events at the district, state, and national levels. These events aim to strengthen democratic values, instill discipline and tolerance, and familiarize the youth with parliamentary practices and procedures. The Youth Parliament also serves to promote active citizenship, youth engagement, and leadership qualities among the participants.

The National Youth Parliament Festival finds its roots in the Prime Minister’s vision, as expressed in his Mann Ki Baat address on December 31, 2017. The inaugural National Youth Parliament Festival took place in 2019, followed by successful editions in 2021, 2022, and 2022-2023. Each event has played a pivotal role in promoting youth participation in democracy, fostering leadership skills, and emphasizing the importance of an active and engaged citizenry.

The Valedictory Function on March 6th promises to be a memorable occasion, with participants, government officials, and dignitaries coming together to celebrate the success of the National Youth Parliament Festival, 2024. The Prime Minister’s continued support and involvement in these initiatives highlight the government’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and active citizens.
