Bhubaneswar: The commencement of the All-India National Role Playing and Folk Dance Competition at the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar, marked the initiation of a vibrant four-day event. Students from 29 states/Union Territories and four Demonstration Multipurpose schools have gathered enthusiastically to showcase their talents and cultural diversity.
During the inaugural session, Professor Ramanuj Narayan, the Director of CSIR-IMMT and a distinguished scientist, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He aptly described the festival as a celebration of the nation and expressed optimism that it would contribute to the realization of a self-reliant India, aligning with the vision of the Prime Minister. Professor Narayan emphasized the significance of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as a knowledge hub, urging students to connect with NCERT books for success instead of relying solely on the internet or mobile devices.
Highlighting India’s linguistic diversity, he pointed out that the country changes its language five times a year, citing the National Education Policy-2020 as an example. Professor Narayan underscored that education’s essence lies not in fancy air-conditioned buildings but in determination and discipline. He passionately asserted that mothers are the greatest scientists for children, encouraging them to become keen observers and avid readers.
The session was presided over by Prof. Prakash Chandra Agrawal, the Principal of the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar. In his address, Prof. Agrawal highlighted the tireless efforts of regional educational institutes in disseminating the mission and vision of NCERT, extending his best wishes for the success of the program. Dr. Harish Kumar Meena, the Program Director, provided insights into the event’s approach. Dr. Vijay Kumar Malik, the Coordinator of NCERT, delivered the welcome address at the commencement of the event. The inaugural event of the Four-Day National Role Play and Folk Dance Competition concluded with a graceful vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Sandhyarani Sahoo, the Dean of Instructions at the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar.
The participation of students from diverse states and Union Territories in this prestigious competition is expected to foster intellectual development and promote the rich heritage and culture of India.
