MYAS Mission Olympic Cell Approves Judokas and Shooter’s Participation in International Competitions

New Delhi:  The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has given the green light to Judokas Himanshi Tokas, Shraddha Chopade, and Asmita Dey to represent India in multiple international competitions. This decision was made during a recent meeting where the proposals of the athletes were discussed and approved.

Himanshi Tokas, the Junior Asian Championship Gold Medallist, and Shraddha Chopade, the Junior Oceania Championship Gold Medallist, are set to participate in prestigious events across the globe. The duo will showcase their skills in the Paris, France Grand Slam; Baku, Azerbaijan Grand Slam; Tashkent, Uzbekistan Grand Slam, and Linz, Austria Grand Prix. Joining them in Paris for the France Grand Slam is the Junior Asian Cup Gold Medallist, Asmita Dey.

The MYAS, through its Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) funding, will cover the airfare, boarding/lodging, insurance, and local transportation costs for the athletes during these competitions and training periods.

In another significant development during the meeting, MOC approved shooter Elavenil Valarivan’s request to participate in the upcoming ISSF World Cup in Spain. Elavenil Valarivan will compete under the Ranking Point Only (RPO) category. The TOPS funding will cover her airfare, entry fee, training fee, local transportation costs, visa, insurance charges, and other related expenditures for the ISSF World Cup.

This approval showcases the government’s commitment to supporting and nurturing the talent of Indian athletes as they strive for excellence on the international stage. The MYAS, through initiatives like the TOPS, aims to provide comprehensive assistance to athletes, ensuring they can focus solely on their performance and bring glory to the nation.

The participation of these talented judokas and shooter in these prestigious events not only offers them valuable exposure but also strengthens India’s representation on the global sports platform. As they embark on their international journeys, the athletes carry with them the aspirations of a nation, backed by the unwavering support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
