Indo-Bangladesh Ties Strengthen as Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Meets with President of India

New Delhi:  Dr Hasan Mahmud, the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, met with the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, marking a significant step in fostering diplomatic relations between the two neighboring nations.

During the meeting, President Murmu extended warm greetings to Dr Mahmud and conveyed felicitations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her historic fourth consecutive term as Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The President expressed confidence that under Prime Minister Hasina’s leadership, Bangladesh will continue to achieve new milestones of progress and prosperity.

President Murmu highlighted the importance of a strong, stable, and prosperous Bangladesh, emphasizing that it aligns with India’s strategic interests. She reiterated the immense political will on both sides to see the relationship between the two nations flourish.

Expressing satisfaction at the progress in bilateral cooperation, the President acknowledged advancements in various sectors, including border and security, trade, connectivity, power, infrastructure, and people-to-people contacts. She noted the collaborative efforts to revive traditional modes of connectivity such as rail, road, and waterways, which historically linked the people and economies of both nations. Additionally, both countries are actively working on creating new connectivity links to further enhance bilateral relations.

The meeting between the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh and the President of India reflects the commitment of both nations to strengthen ties and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation. As the leaders acknowledged the progress made and discussed future collaboration, it signifies a positive trajectory in the diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh. The shared vision of fostering economic growth, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges underscores the significance of the bilateral relationship for the mutual benefit of both nations.
