MSME Minister Highlights Green Initiatives at India International Trade Fair

New Delhi: Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), visited the MSME Pavilion at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi today, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to sustainable growth and artisan empowerment. Accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry and its affiliated organizations, the Minister explored exhibits showcasing innovative products and technologies.

The pavilion, themed “Green MSMEs,” underscores the Ministry’s focus on promoting clean and green technologies among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. Additionally, it highlights the “PM Vishwakarma Scheme,” a flagship initiative providing comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople across 18 traditional trades.

With participation from 200 exhibitors representing 29 states and Union Territories, the pavilion offers a vibrant display of textiles, handlooms, handicrafts, leather goods, bamboo crafts, gems, ceramics, and more. The fair provides a platform for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), particularly women, SC/ST entrepreneurs, and those from Aspirational districts, to connect with a diverse customer base.

During her visit, Sushri Karandlaje interacted with beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and commended their craftsmanship. A street play (Nukkad Natak) was performed to raise awareness about the scheme.

“It is heartening to see that 85% of participants at IITF 2024 are first-time exhibitors,” said the Minister. She highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing support and handholding for MSMEs through various initiatives, reiterating its commitment to fostering growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

The MSME Pavilion’s focus on sustainability and artisan empowerment aligns with India’s broader efforts to achieve inclusive and environmentally conscious economic development.
