SECI Partners with H2Global Stiftung to Boost Green Hydrogen Initiatives

New Delhi: The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany-based H2Global Stiftung to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing green hydrogen initiatives. This partnership is poised to strengthen India’s position as a key player in the global green hydrogen economy.

The MoU was formalized on November 19, 2024, with Sanjay Sharma, Director (Solar) at SECI, and Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director of H2Global Stiftung, signing the agreement. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Timo Bollerhey, CEO of HintCo; Markus Exenberger, Executive Director of H2Global Foundation; Prashant Kumar Singh, Secretary (MNRE); Abhay Bhakare, Mission Director (NGHM); Dr. Prasad Chapekar, DS (MNRE); and K. R. Jyothi Lal, ACS Kerala.

This strategic collaboration aims to establish a robust framework for cooperation between India and hydrogen-importing countries. By leveraging H2Global Stiftung’s expertise, India can develop market-based mechanisms, refine trade logistics, and design joint tender models to accelerate its green hydrogen ambitions.

“Through this partnership, India has the opportunity to enhance its capabilities in structuring tenders and stakeholder engagement, aligning with its goal to become a global export hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives,” stated Sanjay Sharma during the ceremony.

The collaboration underscores India’s commitment to its National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to scale up domestic production and export of green hydrogen. Insights gained from this partnership are expected to play a crucial role in navigating global hydrogen market dynamics and promoting international trade.

H2Global Stiftung, known for its pioneering role in green hydrogen projects, will work with SECI to explore innovative solutions for joint tender design and market mechanisms. These efforts aim to facilitate seamless trade and operational integration, setting the stage for India to lead the global transition toward a sustainable hydrogen economy.
