Mission Shakti Bazaar: A Hub of Women-Led Entrepreneurship Nears Completion in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Taking a stride towards empowering women entrepreneurs, Kartik Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, recently inspected the ongoing construction of the Mission Shakti Bazaar in the heart of Bhubaneswar. This expansive marketplace, developed under the 5T initiative, is on the brink of completion and is poised to become a beacon for women-led entrepreneurship.

Spanning an impressive 10 thousand square feet, the Mission Shakti Bazaar is set to open its doors to the public shortly. It aims to showcase and sell a diverse range of Mission Shakti Self-Help Group (SHG) products from across the state. The bazaar will feature a thousand different farm and non-farm products, including hand-pounded red rice, pickles from Berhampur, the renowned Kandhamala Haldi, honey from Nuapada, sabai products from Mayurbhanj, golden grass products from Kendrapara, phula Badi from Keonjhar, and much more.

Functioning as a boutique store, the Mission Shakti Bazaar will not only cater to the retail needs of Bhubaneswar customers but also serve as a platform to encourage significant buyers to connect with SHG producers. Additionally, it aims to secure a place on Odisha’s tourism map, attracting visitors with its authentic handmade products crafted by women.

Initiated under the HCM’s 5T program, the Mission Shakti Bazaar represents a significant milestone in the transformation of SHGs into Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Expressing his satisfaction with the progress, Sri Kartik Pandian highlighted it as one of the finest examples of women-led entrepreneurship.

Managed by the Khurda Matrushakti Farmers Producer Company, formed by women SHGs with SHGs as its shareholders, the Mission Shakti Bazaar is poised to become a symbol of empowerment and economic growth.
