Kartik Pandian, Chairman of 5T & Nabin Odisha, Inspects Progress of Ekamra Development Project

Bhubaneswar: Chairman of 5T & Nabin Odisha, Kartik Pandian, inspects the ongoing Ekamra Development Project in the old town of Bhubaneswar. The visit focused on assessing the project’s status and providing necessary directives for its timely completion.

Expressing confidence in the project team’s capabilities, Kartik Pandian emphasized the need for the work to proceed at full throttle to achieve the goal of completing the project by the New Year 2025. Acknowledging the magnitude of the task, he encouraged the officials, expressing faith in their ability to deliver successfully.

The inspection covered various facets of the development plan, starting with the North parking area near Sanitarium chhak. This zone will include facilities for bus and car parking, tourist conveniences, vending zones, and the construction of Lingaraj Police Station.

Highlighting the importance of the rehabilitation of shopkeepers and vendors, Kartik Pandian emphasized the need to ensure their livelihoods during and after the project completion.

The visit extended to the alternative road from Kotitirtheswar to Taleswar, running parallel to Bindusagar road. Kartik Pandian reviewed the land requirements and drainage systems, advising the BMC to expedite the handover of balance land needed for drain construction.

Moving towards the temple site, the Chairman inspected the area behind the Ananta Vasudev Temple, the proposed location of the open Bhajan mandap, and the Lingaraj Plaza area. During the visit, discussions included planning for the foundation of the Queue management system without disrupting the landscape, especially during annual events like Sivaratri. The Chairman stressed the importance of scientific traffic management.

To enhance the environmental cleanliness around the temple, Kartik Pandian suggested the use of battery-operated vehicles for ferrying passengers.

The inspection continued to the South side of the Parikrama and OAR, with a review of the alternative bypass road planned near Badheibank chhak. The Chairman advised planning for smooth curves at all crossings and expediting the land acquisition process.

In conclusion, Kartik Pandian reiterated that the project’s objective is to provide a divine experience for pilgrims. To achieve this, beautiful gardens and designer stonework will be created alongside the Parikrama surrounding the temple.

During the visit, officials such as the Principal Secretary of Works, Commissioner of BMC, Collector, DCP, MD OBCC, and other staff were present to facilitate discussions and address any concerns related to the project.
