Bharat Tex 2024: India’s Largest Global Textile Event to Showcase Tradition and Technology

New Delhi: With an expansive 22 lakh sq ft exhibition area spanning two venues at Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi, Bharat Tex is poised to become India’s largest Global Textile Event. Rachna Shah, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, made this announcement in New Delhi today, emphasizing the event’s trade, investment, sustainability, and resilient supply chain focus. The four-day event, commencing on Monday, February 26, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Organized by a consortium of 11 Textile Export Promotion Councils and supported by the Ministry of Textiles, Bharat Tex aims to unite trade and investment while emphasizing sustainability across the entire textile value chain. The event is expected to draw policymakers, global CEOs, over 3,500 exhibitors, 3,000 buyers from 100 countries, and more than 50,000 trade visitors. Spanning 22 lakh sq ft, the exhibition will position India as a global textile powerhouse, showcasing its capabilities and driving momentum throughout the Indian textiles ecosystem.

Bharat Tex embraces a unified Farm to Fashion focus, covering the entire textile value chain.

Shah highlighted that Bharat Tex is not only the largest event in terms of size, exceeding 2 million sq ft, but also the first event hosted simultaneously at two venues—Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi, both of which are fully subscribed. The event represents the entire value chain across all elements, offering a fully unified experience.

The Bharat Tex exhibition encompasses Apparel, Home Furnishings, Floor Coverings, Fibres, Yarns, Threads, Fabrics, Carpets, Silk, Textiles-based Handicrafts, Technical Textiles, and more. It will include a retail High Street focusing on India’s fashion retail market opportunities. Other attractions feature dedicated pavilions on sustainability and recycling, showcasing work by industry and clusters like Panipat, Tirupur, and Surat. The event will showcase India’s traditional Handicrafts and Handlooms through an Indi-Haat, along with over 10 Fashion shows on diverse themes.

Bharat Tex will also host art demonstrations by master craftsmen, interactive fabric testing zones, product demonstrations, and a showcase of global fashion trends. A global-scale conference with 350 speakers will deliberate on challenges faced by the global textiles industry, emphasizing Sustainability, Resilient Value Chains, and India’s prowess. Country and State Sessions on opportunities, investment, and trade, along with discussions on Global Mega Trends and the Factory of the Future, will be conducted.

The event will launch a Textiles Grand Innovation Challenge to identify innovative futuristic circular solutions for India’s Textiles and Apparel industry. A specially curated pavilion will narrate the story of Indian textiles as an unbroken continuum from the past to the present and the future.

Bharat Tex has received an overwhelming response from leading global textile companies, including Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Vero Moda, Coats, Toray, H&M, Gap, Target, Levis, and Kohl’s. Business Delegations from key textiles hubs and global textile associations are also participating.

This collaborative effort involves 11 Export Promotion Councils, major bodies, and Textiles States in the country, showcasing a unified approach towards the event’s success. Participating states include Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Karnataka, each contributing dedicated pavilions and government representations.
