
Colombo: In a significant step towards bolstering maritime cooperation, INS Kuthar, a frontline warship of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet, arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as part of its mission deployment in the Indian Ocean Region. The visit aligns with India’s strategic vision of ‘Neighbourhood First’ and ‘Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR)’, reinforcing strong naval ties between the two nations.
Upon arrival, Commander Nitin Sharma, the Commanding Officer of INS Kuthar, called on Rear Admiral MHCJ Silva, Commander Western Naval Area, Sri Lanka Navy. Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral naval cooperation, regional security, and avenues for future collaboration.
During the port visit, personnel from both navies will participate in a range of professional interactions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and joint activities, aimed at enhancing operational synergy and fostering mutual understanding. These engagements will include training exchanges, discussions on maritime security challenges, and joint drills designed to improve coordination between the two naval forces.
India and Sri Lanka share a deep-rooted maritime partnership, with both nations working closely to ensure peace and stability in the Indian Ocean Region. The visit of INS Kuthar underscores the Indian Navy’s commitment to regional security and reflects the enduring spirit of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
