Hubbali-Dharwad: Addressing the students and faculty members of IIT Dharwad, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar asserted that India is currently in an “epic mood” and is making unparalleled progress across various fronts. He urged the youth to take pride in the country’s phenomenal rise, emphasizing that “India’s rise is unstoppable.”
Referring to recent endorsements by global institutions such as the World Bank and IMF, the Vice-President described India as the favorite destination for investment and opportunities. Drawing parallels to India’s historical prominence, he confidently stated that the nation was the number one in the world centuries ago and will reclaim that position by 2047, urging the youth to gear up for the journey.
During his day-long tour to Hubbali-Dharwad, the Vice-President inaugurated key facilities at IIT Dharwad, including the main gate complex, knowledge resource and data center, and Central learning theatre. He also laid the foundation stone for a rooftop solar panel facility, contributing to the country’s commitment to a green energy ecosystem.
Addressing the vital role of the youth in governance and democracy, Shri Dhankhar expressed hope that they would bring about the necessary change for the nation. He called upon the alumni to form associations and contribute back to their alma mater, envisioning IIT Dharwad’s ascent to the top echelons of educational institutions.
Highlighting the importance of equality before the law in a complete democracy, the Vice-President noted that it is a primary demand of today’s youth. He emphasized that without equality before the law, dignity is compromised, and individuals are being held accountable for their actions. Shri Dhankhar acknowledged the historical prevalence of corruption, stating that it was the sole passage for government contracts and opportunities. However, he applauded recent reforms for bringing transparency to the system, asserting that merit alone should dictate the outcomes of young minds’ efforts.
Expressing pride in India’s exponential growth, the Vice-President acknowledged the challenges posed by those unable to digest the nation’s progress. He lamented anti-national narratives propagated for political gains and urged the youth to counter such efforts.
Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi commended Vice-President Dhankhar for achieving the distinction of being the youngest lawyer in the country’s history designated as ‘Senior Advocate’ by the Supreme Court after just eleven years of practice.
Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines, and other dignitaries were also present at the occasion, showcasing unity and support for India’s ongoing journey of growth and development.
