India’s Para-Athletes Honoured for Historic Performance at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games
New Delhi: A grand felicitation ceremony was held to celebrate India’s para-athletes for their exceptional achievements at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where they secured a record 29 medals, including 7 Gold, 9 Silver, and 13 Bronze. This marks India’s best-ever performance in the Paralympics. The event took place in the presence of Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), V Satish Kumar, Chairman and Director (Marketing), IndianOil, along with senior government officials and leaders from the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
Raksha Nikhil Khadse applauded the athletes, saying, “India’s para-athletes have once again showcased their exceptional talent on the global stage and are an inspiration to the next generation. IndianOil’s support for these athletes is commendable and reflects the power of corporate partnerships in promoting India’s sporting excellence.”
IndianOil, in partnership with PCI, has been supporting the para-athletes since October 2023, playing a vital role in their historic success. Pankaj Jain emphasized the need to strengthen the current support for para-athletes from oil companies. He announced that IndianOil would further extend its assistance by introducing monthly scholarships, medical insurance, and sports kits for the athletes.
V Satish Kumar expressed immense pride in the athletes’ accomplishments, stating, “This historic performance is a testament to the resilience and determination of our para-athletes. IndianOil is proud to have supported them on this incredible journey, and we remain committed to standing by their side as they continue to break barriers and achieve excellence.”
Devendra Jhajharia, President of PCI, also praised the partnership, saying, “IndianOil’s support has been crucial in enabling our athletes to perform at their best. This partnership embodies resilience, strength, and determination.”
