
New Delhi: India concluded its impressive campaign at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup 10M Juniors WC 10M in Granada, Spain, securing the top position in the medal standings. The Indian contingent bagged a total of four gold, three silver, and bronze medals during the prestigious event.
On the final day of competitions on Sunday, Indian air rifle shooters delivered commendable performances, narrowly missing the cut to make the final rounds. Despite the close call, India’s Tilottama Sen and Mehuli Ghosh, both Paris 2024 quota holders, showcased their skill by finishing in the 10th and 11th spots, respectively, with identical scores of 630.9.
The eighth and final qualification spot was secured at 631.1, with a marginal difference of 0.2. Another promising Indian shooter, Nancy, displayed her talent with a creditable score of 629.5. The gold in the event was claimed by Korean shooter Eunji Kwon, as reported by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on Sunday.
In the men’s 10m air rifle category, Olympian Divyansh Panwar emerged as the best Indian performer with a qualification effort of 629.8, earning him the 11th spot in a competitive field of 60+. Kiran Ankush Jadhav (627.8) and Aishwary Tomar (626.5) also showcased their skills in the event, where Jiri Privratsky of the Czech Republic secured the gold.
The stellar performances by Indian junior shooters in this edition of the World Cup reaffirm their rising prominence, outshining their senior counterparts. The impressive medal tally reflects the promising future of Indian shooting on the global stage.
