Indian Army Hosts Landmark Veterans’ Conclave “Shaurya Sampravah 1.0” to Shape Future Strategy

New Delhi: In a significant initiative aimed at leveraging the vast experience and wisdom of its veteran community, the Indian Army convened the inaugural “Shaurya Sampravah 1.0” at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi today. This landmark event, spearheaded by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), marks a major step towards integrating the insights of senior veteran officers into the Army’s strategic vision and broader national objectives.

In his opening remarks, General Upendra Dwivedi extended a warm welcome to the veterans, expressing deep gratitude for their enduring service to the nation. He emphasized that “Shaurya Sampravah 1.0” is not merely a meeting but a strategic platform where the current leadership of the Indian Army can converge with its veteran community to exchange ideas and thoughts. The General highlighted that this interaction is pivotal in ensuring that the invaluable experience of veterans contributes to the Army’s transformation initiatives and aligns with the goals of Viksit Bharat@2047.

General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, echoed these sentiments, underscoring the critical importance of integrating veterans into the Army’s planning and strategy. He noted that the vast experience of veterans is an irreplaceable asset that can significantly enhance the effectiveness of the Indian Armed Forces in achieving their long-term objectives. The event also included informal interactions between veterans and the Army’s senior leadership, fostering camaraderie and reinforcing the shared mission of national service.

The central focus of the event was a detailed briefing on the Indian Army’s “Decade of Transformation” roadmap, a comprehensive plan outlining the Army’s strategic vision for the next ten years. This roadmap focuses on modernization, technological innovation, and the enhancement of operational capabilities, positioning the Army as a future-ready force capable of addressing both traditional and emerging security challenges.

Key presentations during the event included:

  • Modernization Initiatives: The Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to absorb niche technologies that are revolutionizing its inventory and capabilities were highlighted, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to staying at the forefront of military innovation.
  • Systems and Processes Refinement: Discussions centered on the ongoing refinement of the Army’s systems, processes, and functions to enhance overall efficiency and operational and administrative effectiveness.
  • Role in Viksit Bharat 2047: The strategic contributions of the Indian Army to nation-building and its vision for the next decade were outlined, emphasizing the Army’s pivotal role in the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative.
  • Human Resource Management and Veterans Affairs: Senior veterans were briefed on ongoing initiatives in human resource management, veterans’ affairs, and the transformational Agnipath Scheme, underscoring the Army’s commitment to continuous progressive reforms.

The event was designed to be interactive, with veterans actively participating in discussions and brainstorming sessions. The “Shaurya Sampravah 1.0” event also provided veterans with an opportunity to interact with General Officers Commanding-in-Chief of all Army commands.
