Bhubaneswar: India achieved a significant milestone in its defence capabilities with the successful flight-testing of the New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni-Prime off the coast of Odisha.
The Strategic Forces Command (SFC), in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted the successful trial of the missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island at approximately 1900 hrs on April 3, 2024.
The test marked a significant achievement as it met all trial objectives, affirming its reliable performance. Data captured by various range sensors deployed at different locations, including two downrange ships positioned at the terminal point, confirmed the success of the launch. The event was witnessed by the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Strategic Forces Command, and senior officials from DRDO and the Indian Army.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh extended his congratulations to DRDO, SFC, and the Armed Forces for the successful test. He emphasized that the development and induction of the missile will serve as an excellent force multiplier for the Armed Forces, enhancing India’s defence capabilities.
