India Launches Solar Community Hub Mobile Van Training Units to Boost Skill Development

New Delhi: In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing skill development and extending opportunities to underserved communities, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) and Education, Jayant Chaudhary, today inaugurated the Solar Community Hub Mobile Van Training Units at Kaushal Bhawan.

The program, a collaborative effort by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Learning Links Foundation, Dell Technologies, and local stakeholders, underscores India’s commitment to fostering inclusive growth through innovative solutions.

Speaking at the launch, Jayant Chaudhary said, “These solar-powered mobile training units symbolize a transformative approach to empowerment by delivering education and opportunities directly to the communities that need them most. By focusing on critical areas like digital and financial literacy and emerging technologies, this initiative addresses vital skill gaps, paving the way for an inclusive and skilled India.”

Chaudhary also highlighted India’s achievement as the second-ranked nation in the QS World Future Skills Index 2025, emphasizing the country’s leadership in transformative fields such as Artificial Intelligence and green technologies. He added, “Dell Technologies’ global goal of positively impacting 1 billion lives by 2030 through strategic community outreach and partnerships is well-aligned with this initiative. Together, we are driving towards a digitally inclusive India.”

The Solar Community Hubs are advanced mobile training units powered by solar energy, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities like laptops, portable furniture, GPS systems, MiFi routers, panic buttons, and Bluetooth-enabled speakers. These vans offer training on diverse topics, including digital and financial literacy, technical skills, cybersecurity, and Generative AI.

Initially, seven vans will be deployed across districts in Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. In FY25, the program will expand to seven additional districts, aiming to impact over 5.8 million beneficiaries, including youth, women, students, and veterans.

Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE, and Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International, were present at the event. They emphasized the alignment of this initiative with the Skill India Mission, leveraging technology and innovation to deliver skilling solutions.

The Solar Community Hubs reflect Dell Technologies’ commitment to fostering digital inclusion and sustainable development through meaningful partnerships. By integrating technology into skill development, the initiative is set to empower underserved communities, bridging the gap between opportunity and access and driving India toward a more equitable future.
