India Deploys Naval Ships for ‘Operation Brahma’ to Aid Myanmar After Earthquake

New Delhi: In response to the catastrophic earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on March 28, the Government of India has launched ‘Operation Brahma’ to extend humanitarian assistance to Myanmar. The operation is being coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

As part of the immediate Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts, the Indian Navy has deployed INS Satpura and INS Savitri from the Eastern Naval Command, which set sail for Yangon on March 29. Additionally, INS Karmuk and LCU 52 from the Andaman and Nicobar Command will depart on March 30 to reinforce relief operations.

These naval vessels are carrying approximately 52 tons of relief material, including clothing, drinking water, food supplies, medicines, and emergency essentials to support affected communities. The Indian Navy’s swift response reflects India’s commitment to being the ‘First Responder’ in the region, ensuring timely aid to those in need.
