India and Tanzania Hold Third JDCC Meeting to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

Goa: The third edition of the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting between India and Tanzania was held in Goa, marking another significant step in deepening bilateral defence ties.

During the meeting, both nations discussed expanding their training partnerships, enhancing service-to-service collaboration, and boosting maritime and defence industry cooperation. The delegations also reviewed progress on decisions made during previous JDCC meetings and explored new areas to strengthen their strategic partnership further.

The Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad, comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces. High Commissioner of India to Tanzania, Bishwadip Dey, was also present. The Tanzanian side was headed by Land Forces Commander Maj Gen Fadhil Omary Nondo, underscoring the importance both nations place on their defence relationship.

As part of the meeting, the Tanzanian delegation is set to visit Goa Shipyard Ltd, where they will gain insights into India’s port development and shipbuilding capabilities. They will also tour INS Hansa, a premier naval air station, and the National Institute of Hydrography, highlighting India’s advanced expertise in maritime operations and training.

India and Tanzania enjoy warm and friendly relations, strengthened by robust capacity-building initiatives and a shared vision for partnership. The two nations are guided by a five-year roadmap for defence cooperation, which serves as a framework for achieving mutual goals in security and strategic domains.
