Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced a fresh twist to its election campaign in Odisha by including Bollywood icon and sitting Mathura MP, Hema Malini, in its revised list of star campaigners. The decision, revealed on Tuesday, marks a notable substitution, with Hema Malini stepping in for Jyotiraditya Scindia.
While the exact date of Hema Malini’s visit to Odisha remains undisclosed by the BJP state wing, her inclusion in the star campaigners’ list signals an upcoming surge of star-studded campaigning in the state.
In addition to Hema Malini, a cadre of prominent political figures is set to grace Odisha’s electoral landscape with their presence. This lineup includes Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, all poised to bolster campaign efforts ahead of the polls.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to hold a public meeting in Rayagada on May 8, marking his engagement with Odisha’s electorate. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will follow suit with visits to Nabarangpur and Koraput on May 8 and May 9, respectively, to address public gatherings.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is slated to visit Odisha on May 9, undertaking a series of public meetings in Malkangiri, Chitrakonda, and Khallikote. Simultaneously, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will make his presence felt on May 9 by addressing a public gathering in Puri and Krushnaprasad.
