TheIndia Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a two-day yellow warning for heat wave for five districts in Odisha.
In a bulletin,theweather agency informed thatthehot westerly wind is blockingthewind fromthesea towardsthestate’s coast due totheweakening ofthetrough from Jharkhand to southeast Madhya Pradesh. This has resulted in a sharp rise intheday temperature at most places ofthestate.
Issuingthewarning IMD thattheday temperature in western Odisha would rise causing intense heat wave in coastal districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Balasore along with Mayurbhanj on Monday. While Khurda, Cuttack and Dhenkanal district would experience heat wave on Tuesday as well.
Advising everyone to take precautionary measures while going outside from 11 am to 3 pm, IMD advised not elderly, sick people and infants to remain inside.
