Fifth Project Governing Committee Meeting Held to Expedite Rengali Irrigation Project

Bhubaneswar: The fifth Project Governing Committee (PGC) meeting for the Rengali Irrigation Project was held on Monday under the chairpersonship of Anu Garg, IAS, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Odisha, Department of Water Resources.

The high-level meeting, conducted at Lok Seva Bhawan, focused on addressing long-pending bottlenecks that have hindered the timely completion of the project. Key issues discussed included delays related to land acquisition, forest diversion proposals, and coordination challenges with the Indian Railways and other departments.

Garg emphasized the urgency of resolving these issues to ensure smooth and timely execution of the project. She also followed up with the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, to expedite related matters and facilitate required support for the project’s progress.

The committee decided to hold the next review meeting in a month’s time. In the interim, all concerned departments and stakeholders have been directed to work on resolving the outstanding challenges to accelerate project completion.
