Epsilon Carbon Signs Rs. 10,000 Crores MoU with Odisha Government for Integrated Carbon Complex in Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: Epsilon Carbon Pvt. Ltd., a key player in the carbon industry, sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha, marking an investment of Rs. 10,000 crores over the next decade. This significant initiative will give rise to an Integrated Carbon Complex (ICC) situated in Jharsuguda, Odisha.

The Integrated Carbon Complex (ICC) will encompass three primary carbon products: Speciality Carbon Capacity (500,000 MT/annum), Carbon Black Capacity (300,000 MT/annum), and Advanced Materials Capacity (75,000 MT/annum).

Anticipated to generate around 2000 direct and indirect job opportunities, the project aims to foster socio-economic development in the region. Epsilon Carbon is committed to collaborating with local communities, focusing on education, skill development, healthcare, and infrastructure for their holistic well-being.

Jharsuguda’s thriving industrial ecosystem, skilled labor pool, robust infrastructure, and favorable industry policies position it as an ideal site for this monumental project. The proximity to major steel industries ensures a steady supply of raw materials. The project strategically benefits from Jharsuguda’s status as India’s aluminum hub, a region extensively utilizing coal tar pitch. Furthermore, well-connected ports like Paradip enhance the project’s logistical advantages for smooth export operations.

Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, expressed excitement about the investment, stating, “Our decision to invest in Jharsuguda reflects our confidence in the region’s potential. The industrial-friendly policies of the State Government of Odisha, coupled with the existing steel and aluminum industries, align perfectly with our sustainable business strategy. This venture not only strengthens our presence in the carbon industry but also marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable development. Epsilon Carbon looks forward to pioneering innovation and excellence in carbon manufacturing while contributing to the industrial growth and prosperity of Jharsuguda and the surrounding regions.”
