Encyclopaedia on Tribes of Odisha released

Bhubaneswar: Five edited volumes of the ‘Encyclopaedia of Tribes in Odisha’ published by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute and Odisha State Tribal Museum have been released.

The edited volumes contain 418 research articles covering all the 62 Scheduled Tribe Communities and 13 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. All the articles were earlier published in the Adivasi journal and other publications over the last six decades.

Appreciating the book, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “This book will certainly be a great treasure and repository for all the academicians, researchers, policymakers and those interested to know about the tribal communities of the State.”

The editing, compilation and republication of the book has been carried out over a period of last 4 years by Prof. AB Ota, Director, SCSTRTI and his Consultant SC Mohanty.

The Chief Minister also visited the galleries of the museum and appreciated the newly added Projection Mapping Unit in the PVTG Museum.
