PM Modi Briefed on SUBHADRA 5th Instalment Ahead of August 28 Release

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and apprised him of the preparations for the release of the fifth instalment of the SUBHADRA scheme.

The fifth instalment of the flagship women-centric scheme is scheduled to be released on August 28, 2026, on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima, from Nayagarh in Odisha. Each eligible beneficiary will receive ₹5,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

According to the latest preparations, 1,03,26,162 eligible women beneficiaries are set to receive the assistance, involving a total transfer of more than ₹5,160 crore.

During the meeting, Parida briefed the Prime Minister on measures being taken by the state government to ensure that the financial assistance reaches beneficiaries smoothly and within the scheduled timeline.

The government has placed particular emphasis on beneficiary verification, completion of e-KYC, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts and NPCI mapping. Banking arrangements are also being monitored to minimise the possibility of transaction failures and ensure timely transfer of funds.

Parida also highlighted the significance of the upcoming instalment in advancing the state government’s objective of promoting women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion across Odisha.

The SUBHADRA scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhubaneswar on September 17, 2024. Under the scheme, eligible women are entitled to receive financial assistance of ₹50,000 over five years, with ₹10,000 provided every year in two instalments of ₹5,000 each through DBT.

The upcoming payment will mark another milestone in the implementation of the scheme, with the state government seeking to strengthen the economic independence of women and ensure transparent and efficient delivery of welfare benefits.

The government has been undertaking preparatory measures ahead of the August 28 disbursement to ensure that eligible beneficiaries do not face difficulties in receiving the fifth instalment.
