Asha Parekh to be conferred with Dada Saheb Phalke Award

New Delhi: Veteran actor Asha Parekh will be conferred with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award for 2020.

Parekh’s name was announced on Tuesday for the highest recognition in the field of Indian cinema by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur.

The award will be presented during the 68th National Film Awards ceremony to be held on September 30.

The five-member Dada Saheb Phalke Award committee comprising Asha Bhosle, Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon, Udit Narayan, and TS Nagabharana decided on Parekh’s name for the honour.

Asha Parekh started her acting career at the age of 10 as a child artists and later became the leading actress of the Bollywood. She was highest paid actress during 60s to 70s.

She is known for movies like ‘Dil Deke Dekho’, ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Teesri Manzil’, ‘Baharon Ke Sapne’, ‘Pyar Ka Mausam’, and ‘Caravan’ among others. Her last film as an actress was ‘Andolan’ released in 1995.
