DGP Khurania Leads Preparations for 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Security Measures

Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania chaired a comprehensive review meeting at his camp office in Bhubaneswar today to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, scheduled from January 8 to 10 at Janata Maidan.

The three-day event will witness the participation of several high-profile guests, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Union ministers, and officials from the Department of External Affairs. With such a distinguished gathering, DGP Khurania emphasized the need for meticulous planning and robust security measures.

During the meeting, DGP Khurania examined every aspect of security preparation, including the management of police forces, recruitment of officers, and traffic regulation. He instructed senior officials to ensure stringent security protocols for airport security, VIP and VVIP arrival arrangements, security at the event venue, and designated routes for VVIPs.

Specific attention was given to managing the flow of traffic around Janata Maidan and other areas where high-profile guests are expected. Detailed discussions were held on parking arrangements, deployment of personnel for crowd management, and streamlining security systems.

Additionally, DGP Khurania directed that proper arrangements be made for the safe stay of guests at various hotels across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri. Emphasis was placed on increasing security at tourist spots, with regular inspections at hotels to ensure the safety and well-being of guests.

Senior police officers, including Intelligence Director R.P. Koche, Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, Commissioner of Police (Cuttack-Bhubaneswar) S. Devadatta Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Dayal Gangwar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Cuttack-Bhubaneswar) Dr. Umashankar Dash, IG (Central) Charan Singh Meena, and DCP (Bhubaneswar) Pinak Mishra, were present to review and coordinate the efforts.

The DGP emphasized the need for continuous vigilance and readiness, ensuring that all security measures are in place to prevent any untoward incidents during the prestigious event. The seamless management of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is seen as a crucial step toward showcasing Odisha’s capability to host large-scale international events.
