Deputy CM Pravati Parida Urges MLAs to Support Anganwadi Infrastructure Development in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida has appealed to MLAs across the state to actively support the construction, timely completion, and quality maintenance of Anganwadi centres in their respective constituencies.

In a letter addressed to legislators, the Deputy Chief Minister called for collective efforts to further strengthen women and child development initiatives at the grassroots level through active participation of public representatives.

She stressed the importance of ensuring women’s participation in developmental activities being undertaken across constituencies, particularly in projects linked to social welfare and community development.

Highlighting the significance of Anganwadi infrastructure, Parida said well-equipped centres play a crucial role in strengthening child care services, nutrition support, early childhood education, and women’s welfare programmes across the state.

She urged MLAs to closely monitor the implementation of Anganwadi infrastructure projects and help ensure quality standards are maintained during construction and operational phases.

According to official figures, a total of 3,293 new Anganwadi Centre (AWC) buildings were inaugurated and handed over during the financial years 2024–25 and 2025–26 under the state’s Anganwadi infrastructure strengthening initiative.

In addition, around 12,140 Anganwadi Centres across Odisha have been upgraded into Saksham Anganwadis under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme.
