Bhubaneswar: Telecom connectivity has been restored in 99 per cent of blocks in Ganjam district following Cyclone Arnab, with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and other telecom service providers continuing efforts to restore services in the remaining areas.
According to the latest update, as of 10 am on November 1, telecom services have been fully restored in major areas, including Berhampur, Chhatrapur, Ganjam, Khallikote and Bhanjanagar.
Restoration work is underway in the remaining areas of one block under BSNL and Airtel coverage and two blocks under Jio coverage. The affected infrastructure includes Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), batteries, power plants and diesel generator (DG) sets that remain submerged in floodwaters.
Service providers will take up the restoration of the submerged equipment once the floodwaters recede, with the aim of bringing the remaining areas back under normal telecom coverage.
The State Government is continuously monitoring the restoration process and coordinating with telecom service providers to ensure timely action. Efforts are also being made to maintain communication facilities for residents in cyclone- and flood-affected areas, particularly during the ongoing relief and recovery operations.
