Deadline Extended for R&D Proposals under National Green Hydrogen Mission

New Delhi: The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy announced on Tuesday that the deadline for submission of Research and Development (R&D) proposals under the National Green Hydrogen Mission has been extended to 27th April 2024.

The Ministry stated that while the call for proposals, issued on 16th March 2024, has been met with an encouraging response, some stakeholders have requested additional time for the submission of R&D proposals.

“In view of such requests and to allow sufficient time for institutions to submit good-quality proposals, it has been decided to extend the deadline,” the Ministry added.

The R&D Scheme, which will be implemented with a total budgetary outlay of Rs 400 crores till the financial year 2025-26, encompasses all components of the Green Hydrogen value chain, including production, storage, compression, transportation, and utilization.

Furthermore, the R&D projects supported under the mission will be goal-oriented, time-bound, and conducive to scalability. The Scheme also aims to encourage innovative Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups engaged in indigenous technology development.

The overarching objective of the R&D scheme is to enhance the affordability, efficiency, safety, and reliability of processes and technologies involved in the green hydrogen value chain. Additionally, it seeks to foster partnerships among industry, academia, and government to establish an innovation ecosystem for Green Hydrogen technologies.

By providing the necessary policy and regulatory support, the scheme aims to facilitate the scaling up and commercialization of Green Hydrogen technologies.

The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched on 4th January 2023 with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores up to the financial year 2029-30, underscores India’s commitment to advancing clean energy initiatives and reducing carbon emissions.
