Cuttack Railway Station Redevelopment Moves Forward with Major Eviction Drive

Cuttack: The long-awaited redevelopment of Cuttack Railway Station has gained significant momentum with the successful eviction of unauthorized shops and structures from the Station Bazar area near Gate No. 01. This major step clears the way for the station’s transformation into a modern, world-class facility, ensuring better infrastructure and enhanced passenger convenience.

To facilitate the construction of a wider front road and circulating area, 32 shops in front of the existing station were identified for removal. In a well-coordinated eviction drive conducted by East Coast Railway (ECoR) with the support of Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), 30 shops were successfully removed, while two remain pending due to legal proceedings. The drive was carried out in the presence of an executive magistrate to ensure a smooth and lawful process.

The eviction will now allow road widening from 10 meters to 18 meters, significantly improving traffic movement and accessibility for passengers. This marks a critical milestone in keeping the redevelopment project on schedule.

The Cuttack Railway Station redevelopment is part of Indian Railways’ modernization initiative, aiming to introduce state-of-the-art facilities, improved passenger amenities, and seamless connectivity. The station upgrade promises to enhance the travel experience for lakhs of commuters, ensuring a more efficient and comfortable transit hub.
