New Delhi: The much-anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is set to ignite the T20 World Cup on June 9, taking place at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island, New York. The cricketing extravaganza, jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States, is scheduled to kick off on June 1 and will feature a total of 55 matches across nine venues.
The tournament will see 41 matches played in the Caribbean, spread across six different islands. Semifinals are scheduled to be held in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, with the grand finale set to unfold in Barbados on June 29.
Co-hosts USA will commence the tournament by facing Canada in the opening match on June 1. India, placed in Group A, will compete against Pakistan, USA, Canada, and Ireland in the initial stage. Group B includes England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman, while Group C features New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. Group D comprises South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Nepal.
Following the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 phase, leading up to the knockout semifinals and the ultimate showdown in the final.
