Coffee Produced by Tribes of Koraput to Hit International Market Soon

Bhubaneswar: Koraput Coffee produced in Koraput districts by tribal farmers will soon hit the international market as Tata Coffee has agreed to procure the coffee and sell it.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday informed that Tata Coffee will sell the procured Koraput Coffee in the national and international market. “The tie up with Tata Coffee will help for the economic and social development of the coffee farmers of Koraput,” he said.

Appreciating Sulochana Khar of Kasampadar village for her contribution to the expansion and enrichment of coffee farming in Koraput, Patnaik said, she has become an inspiration for others. “Sulochana has sold more than 200 kg of coffee seeds to the Tribal Development Cooperative Corporation of Orissa Ltd (TDCCOL) and has been a source of inspiration for others,” he said.

He further informed that the state government has allotted 46,000 acre of forest land to 30,000 tribal families for the purpose by 2021.

In 2020-21, TDCCOL has collected 28,790 kg of coffee cherries from 193 tribal coffee farmers of Koraput district.
