Bhubaneswar: To boost the pace of development in Odisha’s interior districts, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid a day-long visit to Boudh on Sunday, where he chaired a high-level review meeting and inspected the status of key infrastructure and welfare projects.

The review meeting, held at the District Collector’s Conference Hall, focused on assessing progress, identifying bottlenecks, and laying down an action plan for the district’s accelerated growth. CM Majhi praised the overall progress but emphasized the urgency of expediting delayed works without compromising on quality and transparency.

A ₹28 crore road project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity was among the major initiatives reviewed. The Chief Minister was also briefed on the upcoming 300-bed district hospital, a new bus terminal, and a railway station—all of which are nearing completion and expected to be inaugurated soon.

During the meeting, CM Majhi engaged with the District Collector and senior officials to assess performance across key departments including rural development, health, education, irrigation, and agriculture. He acknowledged the successful implementation of several flagship schemes, such as Mission Shakti, the Mid-Day Meal Programme, and Antyodaya, while urging faster execution of pending projects.

“Development should not be confined to files. It must be visible on the ground. Officers must maintain close coordination and strictly monitor quality,” Majhi stated, while calling for periodic inspections and real-time resolution of issues.

Addressing the need for inclusive development, the Chief Minister insisted that local residents be kept informed and involved. “People’s participation is crucial for the success of every initiative. It ensures accountability and builds ownership,” he said.

Majhi also noted various operational challenges—including land acquisition delays and staff shortages—and assured district officials of state-level support. “The state government stands with you. Where necessary, I will personally ensure intervention,” he promised.

Placing special focus on education, healthcare, and agriculture, he directed officials to prioritize school and hospital infrastructure upgrades and push for modernization in the farming sector. He instructed departments to formulate a district-level development roadmap within the next month.

Taking a swipe at previous administrations, the CM remarked, “Boudh was left behind in the development journey. Our government is committed to reversing that neglect and setting a new benchmark for progress here.”

The meeting was attended by MP Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi, Boudh MLA Saroj Kumar Pradhan, Kantamal MLA Kanhai Charan Danga, IG (Security) Niti Shekhar, District Collector Subrat Kumar Panda, SP Rahul Goel, and other senior district officers.
