CM Majhi Conducts Aerial Survey of Rain-Affected Malkangiri, Orders Swift Relief Measures

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today conducted an aerial survey of Malkangiri district to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains. The district has been severely impacted by rains triggered by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal on September 9 and 10.

Following the survey, CM Majhi chaired a review meeting at the Zilla Parishad conference room, where he directed the District Collector to submit a comprehensive damage report within seven days. During the meeting, he emphasized the immediate provision of assistance to affected households, with electricity restoration and access to clean drinking water as top priorities to prevent waterborne diseases.

CM Majhi praised the district administration and police for their preparedness, which resulted in zero casualties. He also highlighted the proactive measures taken by the government, including regular weather alerts to vulnerable districts and 24/7 monitoring of the situation by the State Emergency Operation Centre.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, who was present at the meeting, commended the efforts of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and the Fire Department for their swift response. He assured that damages would be assessed and compensation provided in accordance with the Odisha Relief Code.

Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Malkangiri MLA Narasingh Madkami, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and other senior officials were also in attendance. The District Collector provided a detailed report on the steps taken to manage the heavy rains and mitigate their impact.
