CBC’s ‘Safarnama’ Brings Indian Cinema and Culture Alive at IFFI 2024

Goa: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is captivating audiences at the Kala Academy in Panaji, Goa, with Safarnama—a multimedia exhibition celebrating the evolution of Indian cinema. The event, part of the ongoing IFFiesta on the sidelines of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), is a vibrant homage to India’s cinematic and cultural heritage.

The exhibition, inaugurated by Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and acclaimed actor-producer Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao, showcases Indian cinema’s illustrious journey through immersive displays, including virtual reality panels. Spanning over 3,000 square feet, the multimedia experience highlights the transformative milestones of Indian cinema, offering visitors an engaging glimpse into its rich history and traditions.

As part of centenary celebrations, IFFI 2024 pays tribute to iconic legends of Indian cinema—Raj Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi, Tapan Sinha, and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The Safarnama exhibition serves as a centerpiece of these tributes, reflecting the timeless artistry that has shaped India’s film industry.

Adding to the festivities, CBC is also presenting a cultural extravaganza featuring folk and classical dance performances from across India. Over 110 artists from diverse regions, including Guwahati, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Jammu, Chennai, Himachal Pradesh, Bengaluru, Pune, and Delhi, have come together to celebrate India’s vibrant traditions. The performances embody the nation’s rich tapestry of customs, rituals, and spirituality, providing a visual and artistic feast for IFFI attendees.

Each dance form tells its own unique story, offering audiences an immersive exploration of India’s cultural diversity. From traditional folk movements to classical expressions, the performances have been a resounding highlight of IFFI 2024, blending cinema with the performing arts to create a multidimensional celebration of Indian heritage.

CBC’s efforts in hosting Safarnama and the cultural programmes underscore its dedication to promoting India’s artistic legacy. The exhibition and performances have become a vital part of IFFiesta, leaving an indelible mark on visitors and reinforcing IFFI’s role as a global platform for showcasing India’s creative brilliance.
