BSF Unearths Maoist Dumps in Malkangiri, Seizes Explosives

Malkangiri: The Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a joint operation in the Bejangiwada Reserve Forest area of Malkangiri, uncovering two Maoist dumps laden with explosives on Thursday. The operation, carried out by BSF troops from COB-Bodigetta, COB-MPV 21, Tactical Headquarters of 142 Battalion, and the Intelligence Team of Sector HQ BSF Malkangiri, led to the discovery of two concealed caches within rock cavities nestled in the jungle.

The joint team recovered a cache of weaponry and explosive materials, including 7 Single Barrel Muzzle Loader (SBML) guns, 2 sealed tiffin IEDs weighing 5kg each, 4 hand grenades, 2 solar panels, a half-filled LPG gas cylinder, 7 CDs, electric wire, and other materials used in the manufacturing of explosives.

The location of the discovery, approximately 1.8 km from Sana Tekguda – Bejangiwada village under the jurisdiction of Kalimela police station, was previously under the influence of Maoists and their sympathizers. The recovered dumps were believed to be a potential threat to security forces and police operating in the region.

The proactive presence of BSF in Malkangiri district has played a pivotal role in dominating the area and thwarting potential threats posed by Maoist insurgents. The successful recovery of explosives and IED-making materials underscores the BSF’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.

Following the discovery, ongoing combing and search operations are underway in the area to ensure the eradication of any remaining threats.
