Bhutanese Prime Minister’s Visit Strengthens India-Bhutan Relations

New Delhi:  Dasho Tshering Tobgay, the Prime Minister of Bhutan, paid a visit to the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, today.

In their meeting, President Murmu warmly welcomed Prime Minister Tobgay, noting the significance of his choice to make India his first overseas visit since assuming office. She emphasized the enduring bond between India and Bhutan, rooted in mutual trust, goodwill, and a shared spiritual heritage through Buddhism.

Highlighting the multifaceted partnership between the two nations, President Murmu underscored India’s commitment to supporting Bhutan’s development across various sectors, including energy cooperation, trade, investment, and people-to-people relations.

Expressing India’s unwavering support, President Murmu assured Prime Minister Tobgay that Bhutan could rely on India as a steadfast friend and partner. She reiterated India’s dedication to aligning its development cooperation with Bhutan’s priorities and aspirations, particularly focusing on the needs of the youth.

The meeting between the leaders reaffirmed the enduring strength of the relationship between India and Bhutan, setting the stage for deeper cooperation and shared prosperity in the years to come.
