Bhubaneswar: This year’s Durga Puja celebrations in the capital city will see stricter rules in place, with authorities banning DJs, firecrackers, and laser lights during idol immersion processions. The focus, officials said, will be on ensuring safety, reducing noise pollution, and preserving the cultural essence of the festival.
The decisions were announced following a preparatory meeting at Police Seva Bhawan, where officials made it clear that only traditional instruments will be allowed while escorting idols to immersion sites. Puja committees across Bhubaneswar have been directed to comply with the new guidelines.
Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh chaired the meeting, which was also attended by Additional Commissioner Narasingha Bhol, DCP Jagmohan Meena, Bhubaneswar Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, and representatives of various puja committees.
Authorities emphasized that these measures are intended not to limit festivities but to maintain order and discipline during one of the city’s biggest cultural events.
