Odisha Dy CM Orders Power Infrastructure Overhaul in Niali

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has directed Tata Power to expedite the renovation and strengthening of the power transmission network in Niali, with particular emphasis on the region’s critical 33KV lines.

The directions were issued during a review meeting held to assess electricity supply and transmission systems managed by Tata Power in the Niali area. Niali MLA Chhabi Malik and senior officials of the Energy Department and Tata Power attended the meeting.

Expressing concern over power reliability, Singh Deo instructed the company to accelerate ongoing infrastructure works and undertake comprehensive renovation, stabilisation and capacity enhancement of the 33KV transmission network.

He also directed Tata Power to fast-track the technical restoration and upgradation of AB (Air Break) switches and power distribution transformers to minimise disruptions and ensure a more reliable electricity supply.

As part of preventive maintenance, the Deputy CM ordered immediate removal of creepers and heavy vegetation from transformers and transmission lines to reduce the risk of short circuits and accidental outages.

Consumer safety also figured prominently in the review. Singh Deo directed officials to ensure strict compliance with earthing safety standards in every household across the region.

The Deputy CM further warned that both the pace and quality of the works would be closely monitored. He said he would conduct unannounced surprise visits to Niali to inspect the progress of renovation and maintenance works on the ground.
