Paris Paralympics 2024:  Shuttler Suhas Yathiraj Claims Silver

Paris: In a thrilling showdown on Day 5 of the Paris Paralympics 2024, Suhas Yathiraj has secured a silver medal in the Men’s Singles SL4 category, adding another accolade to India’s impressive medal tally. Yathiraj faced off against France’s Lucas Mazur in the final, ultimately losing in straight sets, 0-2 (9-21, 13-21).

This marks Suhas’ second consecutive Paralympic silver, having also finished as the runner-up at the 2020 Tokyo Games. In a twist of fate, it was Lucas Mazur who stood in his way on both occasions, repeating his gold-medal performance from Tokyo.

Despite a valiant effort, particularly in the latter stages of the second set, Suhas was unable to overturn Mazur’s dominance. The silver in Paris becomes India’s 12th medal of the Paralympic Games, underscoring the country’s strong showing in this year’s event.

The match was a display of skill and perseverance from Suhas, who has consistently been a top contender in his category. His silver medal is a testament to his hard work and dedication, and it further solidifies his place as one of India’s leading Paralympians.

The Paris Paralympics continues to be a remarkable event for India, with athletes bringing home medals across a variety of disciplines. The nation eagerly anticipates more successes as the games progress.
