New Delhi: Air Marshal Tejinder Singh took over as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) today, assuming his new position at Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan. Following the formal assumption of office, Air Marshal Tejinder paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the nation by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
A highly decorated officer, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF on June 13, 1987. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, he is a Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor with over 4,500 hours of flying experience. He is also an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College and the National Defence College, further highlighting his extensive military education and leadership training.
Over his illustrious career, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh has held numerous key positions in both field and staff roles. He has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Radar Station, and a premier Fighter Base, and was Air Officer Commanding in Jammu and Kashmir. His experience includes serving in Operational Staff at a Command HQ, as Air Commodore (Personnel Officers-1) at Air HQ, and Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Financial Planning) at HQ IDS.
Prior to taking on his new role as DCAS, Air Marshal Singh was Senior Air Staff Officer at the HQ Eastern Air Command in Shillong, Meghalaya.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the IAF, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh has been awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022 by the President of India.
With decades of experience and a proven track record of leadership and operational expertise, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh is expected to play a critical role in shaping the strategic future of the Indian Air Force.
