DG NCC Flags Off Mountaineering Expedition to Mt Abi Gamin

New Delhi: Lt General Gurbirpal Singh, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), ceremonially flagged off the NCC Girls and Boys Mountaineering Expedition to Mt Abi Gamin today from New Delhi. This expedition, comprising 34 cadets, six officers, and 20 Permanent Instructors from various NCC Directorates across India, marks the 88th NCC Cadets’ Mountaineering Expedition since its inception in 1970.

Mt Abi Gamin, located in the Garhwal Himalayas and standing at an elevation of 7,355 meters, is a significant preparatory stage for the NCC’s ambitious mission to conquer Mount Everest in 2025. During the flag-off ceremony, DG NCC Lt General Singh emphasized the importance of this expedition as a crucial training ground for aspiring mountaineers. He encouraged the team to approach the challenge with calmness, courage, professionalism, and an indomitable spirit.

“The Mt Abi Gamin Expedition is more than just an adventure. It is a pivotal step for our cadets as they prepare for the ultimate challenge of climbing Mount Everest,” Lt General Singh stated. He expressed confidence that the experience gained from this expedition would be invaluable in achieving their future goal.

The expedition to Mt Abi Gamin is expected to provide the cadets with essential skills and experience, reinforcing their preparation for the forthcoming Everest mission.
