Bhavina Patel Wins Silver Medal at Tokyo Paralympics
Tokyo: India’s Bhavina Patel becomes the first athlete to win a silver medal in para table tennis at Tokyo Paralympics. On Sunday she lost the final to World No.1 Chinese stalwart Zhou Ying with 7-11, 7-11, 6-11 in Class 4 ParaTable Tennis final.
With her silver medal, this is India’s first medal at the Tokyo Paralympics Games.
The 34 year old created history by entering the final of women’s singles table tennis Class 4 event.
Bhavina made her first international debut in table tennis in 2009 at Jordan and won her first medal in 2011 Para Table Tennis Thailand Open.
Born in Sundhiya village of Vadnagar in Gujarat, she got infected with Polio when she was 12 months old.
