Schools in Odisha to Open for Offline Classes of Class X and XII from July 26
Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to start offline classes of X and XII students from July 26. School and Mass Education secretary Satyabrata Sahu informed on Saturday.
All government and private schools can open their schools for the class of Class X and XII between 10 am and 1.30 pm without recess hours. However, online teaching will continue for all classes including X and XII. Schools which are the centres for the matric exams will open only after the exams are over.
“However, the decision to attend offline classes in schools is up to students and their parents,” informed Sahu.
Sharing about the decision, he said, “The decision to resume offline teaching in schools has been taken as many students faced problems in online teaching mode due to poor mobile internet connectivity in various areas. While only 40 percent had mobile internet accessibility, around 60 percent of students have lost 150 days of regular teaching days because of poor mobile network connectivity.”
However, the district collectors will take a final call on the reopening of schools after reviewing the COVID situation in their respective districts.
Before the schools are reopened, all teachers will be vaccinated on a priority basis. The District Education Officers (DEOs) have been instructed to ensure that all the COVID-19 protocols are strictly followed in the schools.
Sahu further informed that the government is planning to start offline classes of Class IX and Class XI.
