Udhampur: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh addressed a gathering of first-time voters, predominantly Class 12 and first-year college students, during the “Nav Matadata Sammelan” organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) to commemorate National Voters’ Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also virtually addressed the event, which focused on the crucial role of youth in shaping India’s future.
Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized the significance of the first-time voters, stating that they would be the centenary youth in 2047 when India celebrates its 100 years of Independence. Reflecting on the transformative journey of India, he noted the change in perception and global standing since 2014. Before Prime Minister Modi’s tenure, there was a prevailing sense of pessimism, loss of faith in the establishment, and a lack of hope for the youth’s future. However, the consistent efforts and initiatives in the last ten years have altered this narrative, with India now being held in high esteem globally.
Highlighting India’s economic achievements, Dr Jitendra Singh mentioned the country’s rise to the fifth-largest economy, surpassing the United Kingdom, and its imminent position as the fourth-largest economy in the world. He cited achievements in the space sector, such as the Chandrayaan Mission and the development of an indigenous COVID-19 vaccine, as exemplary successes.
Addressing the first-time voters, Dr Jitendra Singh urged them to make the best use of the opportunities available in these transformative times. He emphasized the role of technology and encouraged the youth to consider themselves the architects of India in 2027. The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to providing a level playing field, creating avenues for self-employment, and fostering an environment where youth can transition from job seekers to job providers.
Discussing the success of the StartUp movement, Dr Jitendra Singh revealed that India has risen to the third spot globally with the establishment of over 1.25 lakh StartUps. He also highlighted the Aroma Mission, which has provided lucrative opportunities for more than three thousand youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
As India marches towards its centenary year of Independence, Dr Jitendra Singh urged the youth to contribute actively to the nation’s progress and work collectively towards realizing the goal of a developed India by 2047.
