Bhubaneswar: The World Skill Center Academy, the staff capability development wing of the World Skill Center (WSC), successfully concluded a two-week Training of Trainers (ToT) programme in Pedagogy and Assessment for newly appointed Assistant Training Officers (ATOs) from Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Odisha. A total of 108 ATOs from 43 ITIs participated in the intensive training held in Bhubaneswar.
The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of senior WSC officials including Chief Operating Officer Pinaki Patnaik, Principal T Thambyrajah, Deputy Principal Jeetamitra Satpathy, and other members of the Academy staff.
Ashutosh Nayan Dey, Deputy Director of WSC Academy, explained that the training was designed to help new trainers adopt learner-centric teaching approaches. “The programme focused on essential tools such as lesson planning, Content Analysis Maps, reliable assessment methods, rubric creation, and the formulation of higher-order questions,” he said.
Deputy Principal Jeetamitra Satpathy emphasized that the initiative reflects the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP), particularly its stress on pedagogic reform and competency-based education.
Principal T Thambyrajah noted that in just three years, the Academy has trained over 2,500 instructors from ITIs and Polytechnics in modern teaching techniques. “This achievement reaffirms WSC’s role as a frontrunner in vocational education and skills development,” he added.
Speaking at the valedictory function, COO Pinaki Patnaik expressed confidence in the newly trained cohort. “These 108 ATOs will be catalysts of change across Odisha’s skilling landscape. Their training under the hub-and-spoke model will help elevate the quality of vocational instruction across the state,” he said.
