World Skill Center, Bhubaneswar, Opens Enrollment for Advanced Engineering Courses

Bhubaneswar: The World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar, established by the Government of Odisha, is set to commence its September 2024 session enrollment for advanced training courses, aimed at equipping youth with specialized skills in high-demand fields. The center’s initiative aims to cater to the increasing demand for skilled professionals both within India and globally.

As per the announcement, applications for enrollment in six advanced courses, including the newly introduced ‘Precision Engineering’, under the ‘School of Engineering’, will be accepted starting June 22. The last date for online applications is August 30, providing interested candidates from Odisha ample time to apply.

The World Skill Center’s curriculum for the academic year 2024-25 emphasizes industry-relevant skills aligned with the principles of Industry 4.0. Courses such as Precision Engineering will cover modules like Engineering Drawing & Inspection Techniques, CNC Sheet Metal Fabrication, and 3D CAD/CAM Applications, among others. Additionally, courses in Mechanical and Electrical Services, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and Vertical Transportation (Lift Technology) are also offered.

Candidates eligible for enrollment must have completed a 2-year ITI or a 3-year Diploma from any Government or Private Industrial Training or Polytechnic Institute in Odisha. Selection for enrollment will be based on a special entrance test conducted online by the World Skill Center.

“The World Skill Center stands as a beacon of skill development in Odisha, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, ultramodern laboratories, and world-class equipment,” said a spokesperson from the Odisha Skill Development Authority. The center operates on a finishing school model, ensuring comprehensive grooming of students for national and international career opportunities across various industries and service sectors.

Notably, the center also facilitates unique opportunities for students, including a ‘Student Exchange’ program in Singapore for 40 selected students and paid internships in Singapore for 24 students annually.
